Duck Duck Goose!

For those of you who know me well, you know that I am not a fan of "discount" shopping.  I have always had a strong hatred for TJ Max, Marshalls, consignment shopping and Garage Sales. I'm not sure if its the massive amounts of clutter or the unorganized racks but whatever it is, it overwhelms me the moment I enter the doors.  I want so badly to be a savvy shopper that always finds good deals but I am just not! I am ok with this by now and know that its just not my thing!  I have been a victim of great marketing and love all things new!  I love the way I feel in a new car, walking into a new house and taking a stroll through Nordstroms.  Sadly, I have the mindset that if something is for sale, it is because nobody wants it! OOPS!  So....with that being said, I was surprised that for some reason I wanted to go to Duck Duck Goose (the huge rummage sale that comes to Knoxville once a year).  I knew I couldn't brave this outing on my own so I talked Jenny and Will into coming with us.  Jenny has very similar feelings to mine on rummage sales but she was being a good friend and knew that I needed her there for support.   So we packed up two kids, two strollers and took two cars in hopes of finding so much good loot that we would need two trunks to take it all home.  We pulled up and it was huge! It was in a wear house and took up the whole thing.  They even had food vendors there in case you needed a break. (ha) So in we went with Luke and Will in search of fun outdoor toys.  We were hoping to find a wagon, cozy coupe or even a slide.  Sadly, we didn't find any of the toys we were looking for but we did find where everyone in Knoxville was hiding because it was packed.  It was crazy watching the people hording all the toys and clothes they could fit into their arms and pile on top of their strollers.  Jenny and I decided we needed to give it one good lap around the building to see if we could find anything we may need and take in a little people watching as well.  After seeing 1000 Zebra rocking horses and a line of people that was at least 3 hours long, Jenny and I decided to call it a day.  We left empty handed but had a fun experience watching the professional rummage salers! Oh well, Maybe next year! Here are a few pics from our experience.

Cousin Time!

There are very few things in life that Luke likes more than hanging out with his cousins.....actually I can not think of anything he likes more!  Hudson and Brody are so wonderful with him and he always loves the time they spend together.  Lucky for us, they live about 3 minutes away and making a pit stop at each others houses is a regular occurrence. Today was a gorgeous day to play outside and Luke loved hanging out with the "big boys".   They were so sweet to push Luke in his new swing and also teach him his numbers and colors on his new toy.  He already thinks they hung the moon and I cant wait to see their sweet relationship grow throughout the years!  We love you Hudson & Brody!!

Easter 2012

Easter this year was the first holiday that John and I had ever spent away from both sets of our parents.  This year, Sheryl and Earl went to visit John's brother and sister- in- law (Matt and Kelly) in Texas and my parents stayed in Atlanta due to the fact that they were just here last weekend for Luke's baptism.  Lucky for us, John and I have fabulous siblings that live within walking distance from our house and they offered to host a Easter lunch for us and some of their sweet friends.  Mark and Lynn worked all weekend on putting together and amazing lunch and that is just what it was, Amazing.  It was so fun and the weather was perfect for playing outside and an egg hunt.
Somebody has quite a personality already! (Ps: If you notice I have on the same dress as a previous post, just pretend you didn't! ha)

Luke's Big Day!

On April 1, 2012 our sweet baby boy was baptized at Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church here in Knoxville.  It was such a special day filled with family and friends and we are so blessed and thankful for all the wonderful people in Luke's life who came to celebrate with him.  Our day started off with a lovely services (on Palm Sunday) and sweet baptism and ended with a fun lunch gathering at Luke's house!  Sadly I got too caught up in having a good time and didn't take many pics of our guests we had over but I was able to get a bunch of the set up.  Thanks so much to everyone who helped make this day so special!  We are so proud of Luke and are glad y'all were able to be a part!  Take a look at Luke's Big day!
He was baptized with just 3 other children so it was nice and intimate!
Showing Luke off to the congregation.
Glad he was able to lift him, we were wondering if he was going to be too heavy :)

So Proud of our little guy!
